Set in the heart of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, this beautiful Holiday Cottage, “The Coach House”, nestles in the grounds of Westerdale Hall. Reputedly built on the site of a former Knights Templar Presbytery, the Gothic castellated House, with its gigantic Tower, was built as a shooting lodge for the Feversham family of Duncombe Park in 1842.
After the second World War Westerdale Hall was used as a youth hostel and many people have fond memories of their time here. When the Youth Hostel closed, the hall stood empty for several years before reverting to private ownership and is now refurbished in a sympathetic, Victorian style. The coach house formerly housed the stables, coach barn and coachman’s quarters, now converted into a cosy cottage and recently let as a holiday cottage. This holiday home is located in the midst of Westerdale in a natural wooded valley surrounded on all sides by the vast expanse of the North Yorkshire moors and is truly an excellent North Yorkshire Holiday Cottage.
The Coach House is furnished in a traditional style with antique furniture throughout. There is a comfortable Drawing room with T.V. and DVD player, a good range of DVDs and books and games are available. With full central heating and a wood burning stove the cottage is really cosy in the coldest weather. (A welcome pack of logs and kindling are provided on arrival with further provisions available at cost price)
The kitchen is fully equipped with a large fridge/freezer, washing machine, microwave and electric cooker. There is also a table and chairs for informal meals, while the dining table is large enough for six and looks really lovely in candle light.
Upstairs there are three bedrooms. The two double bedrooms have stunning views of the garden and surrounding moorland. The smaller, single bedroom over looks the private court yard and parking area. This room also has a second single bed which can be pulled out to sleep a further guest.
The bathroom of our North Yorkshire Holiday Cottage is bright and modern but still in keeping with the country cottage style. The bathroom has a shower over the bath.
The enclosed parking area has room for several vehicles. The entrance to this beautiful north Yorkshire holiday cottage is gated for extra security.
The large cottage garden at the rear of the property has a gravelled, terraced, seating area and good views of the North Yorks moors.
