Thank you for another lovely stay here. Great seeing you, when we are here. This is one of our holiday breaks, weather was great and seeing the stars at night was amazing. We had plenty of walks at the beaches Runswick bay, Sandsend, Whitby for fish and chips and ice cream. Last night myself and Andy stood outside listening to owls calling each other. One must have been in the big tree near the house as it was loud. We all enjoy/love coming here for the peace and quiet, no planes, no cars, just wildlife birds etc. Thanks again for the lovely cake and treats. See you next Oct 25xxx

I have to say the Coach House was remarkable and the atmosphere of the place isn’t fully captured in the photos, it has so much warmth and character, which is conveyed not only by the age and general look and feel of the rooms, but also by the many artefacts that were strategically placed around the house. Having said that, we had a very comfortable and pleasant stay. We would highly recommend it.

Such a delightful place to stay in. A lovely warm welcome and an added surprise of a homemade cake which was delicious. The Coach House was spotlessly clean and the added bonus of fresh flowers, bottled water etc made our stay even more special + memorable. The accommodation is very well stocked, allowing it to be very much home from home. We haven’t yet used the log burner, but if we do I imagine it’ll make the house even cosier than it already is. Our first time here but hopefully not our last, loved by the whole family.

Visited Whitby + had the famous fish + chips. Eden camp is well worth a visit – plan for a full day as there is lots to see. The weather wasn’t great which made the cottage even more welcoming after a wet, windy day out – especially with the log fire to keep us warm. Would definitely stay here again without hesitation. The Coach House is beautiful and in a wonderful peaceful setting. The interior is delightful, Trish has kept the authentic feel and caracter of the building with tasteful authentic fittings and furniture. There were fresh flowers in the rooms a lovely welcome pack and a delicious home baked cake. It is cosy and comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped. Trish met us on arrival and showed us around, she is engaging and helpful. The garden is lovely and we did manage to sit out for a couple of hours! To the front of the property is a courtyard area, our dogs were able to run around under supervision as one is a bit of an escape artist! The area is very peaceful with lots of walks on the doorstep and places to visit without driving too far. Trish is a very welcoming and informative host. If you want peace and quiet with cosy comfortable surrounding this place is great. Highly recommend!

What a fantastic week!! The location of this fab cottage is idillic. We never failed to ” Ohhh ” and ” Ahhh”, as we made our daily drives over the moors, back from our daily adventures. We especially enjoyed fossil hunting in Runswick bay. Body Boarding at Sandsend. Ghost hunting in York and pirate adventures in Scarborough. Coming back to the cozy cottage was never a chore, down to the stream for some stone skimming before a delicious piece of cake, washed down with a glass of wine, in front of the log burner. Such a generous host, welcoming & excellent cake maker. Thank you for our week with the wildlife on the moors. The Osbourne’s.

Thank you Trish for a stay so sublime, The basket of goodies were simply devine, We felt right at home once we walked through the door, To your warm, cozy haven in the midst of the moor. We spent each day discovering the sights, Then return each day to the realm of the Knights, The ghosts of the Templars inhabit these grounds, While dawn chorus each daybreak truly abounds. We lunched in the NYMR Pullman diner, As it weaved through the moors the scenes couldn’t be finer, The theatre on York and that city so grand, The maze of small streets on a magical land. Then Middlethorpe Hall for some afternoon grub, And wander the gardens before a pint in the pub, A day at the beach was a must that’s for sure, And a welcome respite from a walk on the moor. With a glass of wine & cheese as we watch the logs burn, We wonder not if but when we will return.

The weather has been great and the views are amazing. Saw lots of birds, red kite, grouse, curlew, snipe, lapwing, redstart, kestrel, Marlin (?). Even spotted an adder. Walks – Westerdale, Castleton Rigg. Westerdale to old Ralph’s cross and back via Esk valley path. Great fry Dale. Visited Botton village + Albatross spotting at Bampton RSPB and we saw him! So quiet and peaceful, hope to stay here again. Thanks for the help with the washing machine! ( Your cake was the best ever – thank you)

Thank you Trish and Peter for another perfect week in our home from home. This our sixth visit + there is no doubt we will be back again. The kids love the cake, the dogs love all the potential victims, if only they weren’t on leads. Franklin can now spot a Rabbit at about 300 ft. We rescued a sheep out of a ditch, a dove from the middle of the road and a lamb with a broken leg (all while the dogs watched in frustration) Perfect holiday home, wish we could live here.

We loved our stay here. Outside areas lovely & safe & Trish was very nice. We loved walking down the lane to throw stones down into the river, with our 3 toddler boys. A perfect first holiday away after lockdown. Such a beautiful location and the house had everything we needed, plus some extras – thank you for the cake! We loved being able to walk right from the front door and we spent a lot of time on the Esk Valley walk. We took a trip to Sandsend and walked all the way along to Whitby and back, revived by Papa’s fish and chips in Whitby – would recommend! ( And gluten free bater!) we also enjoyed a Trip to Rievaulx Abbey and the Sutton Bank Centre. Thanks again for everything?

Thank you Trish for the warm Yorkshire welcome, the goody hamper and amazing cake- all very much appreciated! Thank you also for the little touches – flowers in the rooms, books, information and of course the Covid masks and sanitisers – the new normal! We loved the original features and the lovely garden. I was also very excited to see the low flying jets! We went on some nice strolls around the lanes with the dog, and everyone we met stopped to talk to us. Things we did: went to the beach as Mylo our dog loves it. Usually went to Marske – had fish “n” chips on Redcar beach. Went to Kilburn to see the White Horse – in need of maintenance but still a nice walk and good exercise up and down those steep steps. Went to Helmsley- we always go when in the area, as there is a lovely deli that does relishes + chutneys we like. We ate at the Fox & Hounds in Ainthorpe – nice food but portions are huge, chips are amazing. It was a very scary 10 minute drive back though, as it was dark and very low cloud so could only see about 2 meters ahead over the moors. Decided not to eat out at night again and kept to daytime! A much needed break and we really enjoyed our stay.

What a beautiful Airbnb. Thank you so much for the amazing welcome pack we found on our arrival. Trish you are the perfect host. Thank you. Great facilities for cooking in. Places we found: Moors National Park Centre at Danby – do pay the car parking charges as there is plenty to do here for the whole day. Coffee shop, information, souvenirs, walks with maps ( we did the 4 mile “walk 1” in the 2.50 booklet – best walk ever, bit of steep to start with). Take a picnic + admire the views from the top. Steam train from Pickering to Whitby – have to book but well worth it + just the right amount of time in Whitby for “Magpie Cafe” fish + chips. Ate at the Lion Inn ( Up the road on the way to Kirkbymoorside YO62 7LQ) very nice. Also the Witching Post at Egton YO21 1TZ very good. For the coast, we went to Runswick bay – there is a car park at the bottom. We parked at the top and walked down but the climb back up is hard. Beautiful bay with small sandy beach. Guisborough – very depressed town. Wouldn’t go back, not much there. Helmsley was a lovely market town with great little shops, amazing bakers to pick up your picnic stuff + head into the Moors. Great Eccles cakes – 2 for £1.25!

First impressions – characterful, homely house in STUNNING setting! The weather was not not particularly kind but the house was warm and comfortable which made all the difference. I recommend dipping into the books on the area/Westerdale that are provided – some interesting historical background. Bitterly disappointed! Not at all as we remembered it when we were here between Christmas (1975) and New Year. We missed the dark leaden skies, the rain, the freezing cold weather, the cold water in the taps. All spoilt. What we had now was luxury, blue skies, no rain and really exceeding pretty countryside. We have cycled this time the dazzlingly attractive Esk valley there are very many superb DECENTS in the area. Oh how we miss those old YHA days . . . When we were 43 years younger. This is the Youth Hostel which set my blanket record . . . 18 blankets on a cold night!! We will be back again.

Thank-you very much for a peaceful few days in this wonderful cottage.Westerdale in our opinion is the loveliest of dale’s in North Yorkshire. It was fascinating to learn of some of the history of the village. We would love to revisit one day. Although we live in the valley next door, it is a different world.

Well it was our first visit to “Yorkshire” – only a short trip, but we were not disappointed. Cottage was absolutely wonderful, peaceful, comfortable and what a lovely welcome from you, by way of cake and basket of goodies.
We visited Whitby, Goathland, Pickering, Grosmont and travelled through such lovely countryside. The Lion Inn on the moors, what a truly wonderful Inn – well worth a visit. The weather was very kind to us considering it was September and the “Sun Shone”. We do hope to make a return visit at some time in the not so distant future – such a lot to see. A truly lovely stay.

This was our first time in the North York Moors and it was absolutely amazing! It’s a shame we only had three nights here! The cottage is the best out of many we’ve stayed in. It is in a beautiful and atmospheric location. The cottage itself is furnished beautifully and is extremely atmospheric and has plenty of character. It reminds us of something out of a book. The little extras made it all the more homely and the garden was awesome with a great hill for rolling down. The Moors themselves are breathtaking and we saw plenty of wildlife watch out for sheep in the road though! Whilst we have been at the cottage, we have visited Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay and Goathland, the station was Hogmeade in the Harry Potter films. It was an amazing trip and we hope to return one day.

Thank-you so much for such a wonderful stay. Everything was perfect – house full of history and character, beautiful gardens and village and everything we could need. The personal touches were lovely. We really enjoyed the cake! All in all an excellent way to celebrate a 30th birthday, would certainly recommend.

What a discovery, a beautiful hidden gem. The house is well equipped and the basket of “Goodies”, flowers and wine were very much appreciated. Jim and Snoop (The Whippets) found the garden great to play in. Thank-you Trish for a wonderful, peaceful stay. We plan to return in November.

Lovely week despite poor weather. Thank-you for lovely welcome pack, cake and cookies went down well especially with the kids. We enjoyed a BBQ on one of the fine evenings and the kids enjoyed playing in the garden when they could. The Lion Inn, on Blacky Ridge is fabulous for food – we went twice. Enjoyed the space inside the cottage – lovely spacey lounge and kitchen. Thanks for the lovely welcome, we had a great time.

Amazing cottage, well equipped, beautiful and relaxing. The welcome pack and yummy cake was absolutely fantastic and was very much appreciated. Above and beyond what was expected. We felt at home here, very cosy and homely. Would definitely come back again. The views are amazing.

A beautiful location and such a large cottage. Lots of lovely touches too, we have had a very special time. Dogs very much enjoyed the area, walking etc. Our purpose was to run the Saltburn marathon which we did and one of our party got a third place. The cottage was a refuge after to rest and recuperate. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your wonderful cottage. It’s beautiful, well equipped and has a fantastic garden! We have had a great holiday enjoying the log fire, peace and quiet. While the teenagers were kept happy with the wifi and Paul (aged 9) and Fergus explored and entertained each other in the garden.
Future Guests – Don’t miss the wonderful Dalby Forest for great walking, picnics and playing. The Lion Inn at Blakey is dog friendly and has lovely food with very large portions.

Had a great weekend in this lovely, characterful house. The standard of accommodation is really good and very clean. It manages to keep it’s charm and character whilst keeping up to date with wifi, iPod dock and TV etc. Comfy beds, crisp sheets and 5 star hotel towels! Stayed in lots of places and this is one of the best, you have thought of everything. Tried to think of anyway it can be improved – but can’t. We will defiantly be back and recommend to friends. The very best place we have ever stayed. We regularly rent self catering accommodation in North Yorkshire and across the UK. We have never come across somewhere we liked more. The house is comfortable, well equipped and lovely. A haven of peace and quiet in a perfect setting. Our dogs loved the garden and we loved being able to relax and let them play. “Wonderful cottage in beautiful setting”
We found this cottage was a great place to stay in the lovely, peaceful, remote village of Westerdale. Although the pictures are good, they really don’t show how nice the cottage is. It feels very homely and comfortable with lots of soft lighting and small lamps around making it very romantic. The log fire just adds to the cosiness. Although old it has all the modern amenities you need and has been modernised to maintain its character. The beds are really comfortable with crisp white bedlinen, carpets all clean and modern throughout, the bathroom is large with lots of thick fluffy towels and it is very private as although next to the owners accommodation, it has its own walled courtyard which is not overlooked, its own gate access and private large rear garden. Everything is very clean and well maintained and lots of nice plants about. The windows are traditional old metal lattice stained glass, and really give character. Everything is well organised and we received a very warm welcome on arrival and lovely goodie hamper, which went down well. Would highly recommend this cottage as we.

This has to be one of the best cottages we have been to. Excellent for dogs with a lovely garden and private enclosed courtyard. The cottage is supplied with everything that you need. The owners are very friendly and helpful and do not intrude after showing you around. The welcome pack was most appreciated as were the fresh flowers and bottle of wine. The cottage is clean and furnished traditionally, which is just as we like. A well equipped kitchen and nice sized flat screen TV, with a good library and walks from the door over lovely countryside. We would most definately return to the coach house, hopefully the weather will be better next time, though Oskar our dog did not mind at all.

We have had a lovely 3 days, pity the weather couldn’t have been better. simply loved the atmosphere of the house and gardens. It was lovely to see Deer and Squirrels from the garden. We have been to lots of cottages and this rates as the best we have been to. Very friendly and warm and above all clean with everything you could want. We will most definitely return. The welcome on arrival and the supplies left for us including the beautiful flowers have been an unexpected bonus.The cottage is Characterful, Clean and very well equipped. We have loved the quiet situation and the amazing garden, which the 2 children and the dog particulaly enjoyed. We very much hope to return and will definitely recommend to friends and family.
